The Importance of Keys

Sorry I haven’t posted in while. It’s been rather hectic on my end.

We had a bit of a shock on Wednesday as we both got back to the flat and realised we had both forgotten our keys.

We rang the estate agents and learnt that they didn’t have a spare key, the landlord wasn’t in London and the maintenance guy was on holiday until monday. An emergency Locksmith would have cost us nearly £70 which we just didn’t have the money for. This left us in a bit of pickle.

Luckily we managed to stay at a friends house in Enfield for the night and he mentioned that we were welcome for as long as we were stuck.  I had to go to work in jeans and my nice expensive Topshop boots but I guess that wasn’t the end of the world.

Waiting for the bus at 2am after work.

One of my work mates said that if we were still stuck then she could ask her husband and his boss if we could use one of their ladders as we had (luckily) left one of our windows open.

Cue 6pm Thursday night. It was just getting dark and we’d arrived back to our flat. A white van pulled up and several men bundled themselves out, grabbed a ladder and were in and out of our flat in a matter of minutes! We were definitely lucky that we’d left that window open although it is a bit scary to see how easily and quickly it could be broken into.

Breaking in

It was so nice to be home after all the palaver and now I think neither of us will be forgetting our keys in a hurry…

‘Till next time!

Just about Settled.

So we still don’t have internet fter being messed around rather a lot. First they told us the wrong date, then they didn’t even show up, then they decided they didn’t need to as we already had a line installed, now they’ve realised there’s a ‘fault’ in our line. They should have fixed it before the 5th but I don’t know when tht means we’ll actually have internet. Hopefully it will be sometime soon, i’m feeling very cut off from the world.

Our window

In the meantime i’ve been sorting out the mounds of belongings we seem to have and have been working at my part time job in a weatherspoons (where i’m currently sat for the free wifi). I have a few projects in line for the sewing machine which I will hopefully get cracking on with soon. This hopefully means that there will be an explosion of new items to upload when I finally have my internet sorted.

The 'Kitchen'

I did go back to the north briefly to pick up the last of my things (such as my microwave) and met up with friends and family whilst there. I got there last saturday night and went for a meal with friends (one of whom was going back to uni in plymouth the next day) and then from there went to another friends house for a catch up over wine. They’d just moved in and done lots of decorating and really made it their own. I hadn’t seen either of them since uni and it was so nice just having a nice chat with them and finding out what they’re up to, it was like we’d never been apart.

The next day i went back home and had a big roast with my family. Why is it that mum’s cooking always tastes so much better? After the meal my cousin performed some magic tricks for us which were actually very impressive!

Celebratory chinese!

I promise the next update will be a little more exciting…Or at least i hope it will be.

Till then keep smiling!

The Stresses of Moving

I promise I haven’t been neglecting my blog. We’ve finally moved house and currently have no Internet (this is being updated on the awkward iPhone app). Hopefully it should be installed on wednesday, although then it can take up to 11 days to activate our account. I can’t wait until its all sorted!

I’ve been working a lot in the mean time which has been fun. Still enjoying the job quite a lot, mainly because of the people there. They definitely make it a laugh, even when working till close.

When In the new flat I’ve just been sorting out all our things and trying to find a place for them in the small bedsit. Nearly all done now (probably due to the lack of Internet, although I hate to admit it).

At the moment Ashley is away on a business trip for the week. Despite not really seeing him much when he is at home and practically living in my flat by myself anyway, I’m already feeling a bit lonely. Probably just because I know he wont be coming home until Saturday. Hopefully the trip should prove useful to his progression though.

Will provide a real update with lots of pretty pictures of the flat once our Internet is sorted out, but until then I guess I’ll continue to rearrange until I’m happy with this place.
