Getting Ready for May

Sorry for my brief absence, I know i’ve been very quietly recently.

I just haven’t had time for blogging in between work, sewing and trying to enjoy the odd bit of sunshine.

I have some very big ideas for May and so have been a busy bee trying to get it all sorted out. There is a lot of sewing, printing and advertising to be done and i’m running out of time to do it all! I’m definitely behind schedule and the nice weather is not helping! (I just want to be outside!)

But don’t worry, I may have another barbecue planned for tomorrow (the third this week) but I will definitely be ready.

So expect lots of competitions, freebies, new products, and some awesome penguin related fun!

Crafty Storage Find

Today was nice and sunny so myself and the boyfriend decided to go for a nice walk to a nearby park we’ve been wanting to explore.

It was definitely a park for joggers and dog walkers and had a gorgeous little stream running through it. We found lots of rope swings which all seemed to end with you swinging into the stream…I think that would seem a lot more appealing in the summer.

On the way to the park we noticed a nice looking wardrobe just left by the side of the road. The doors were resting behind it and it had a packet labelled ‘screws’ taped to the inside.

On the way back we passed it again and decided to ask if it was up for grabs. It was!

We somehow got it home and then I gave it a clean.

Ash agreed to let me use it for my sewing as all my things were crammed into a small cardboard box and plastic bags.

Sewing things and other stuff

I decided to use the top shelf for all my fabrics and the bottom for other crafty storage. The rail to hang all my hangable creations. I didn’t actually realise how much fabric I had until I started sorting it all out. I’ve told my boyfriend not to let me buy any more, unless there’s good reason, until i’ve used some of these up.

I finished it off by putting my old sewing machine on top as it’s so cute and pretty I felt it had to be on show. I also finally found a place for my amazing fish lights! My sister bought these for a birthday years ago and I hadn’t yet found a place to put them in this flat. I don’t think I will try to fit the doors back on as I actually quite like it without them…

Stocked up!

Finally I have an awesome storage area for all my items and fabric!

‘Till next time!

Fishies 🙂

Date at the museum

Yesterday my boyfriend and I went to the British museum as a date as we haven’t really spent much time on ourselves lately and museums are free (and make awesome dates!). It was lots of fun and I even gained inspiration for a necklace or two!

We saw lots of statues, the rosetta stone (which my silly boyfriend thought was a woman and not an actual stone…), some mummies and a giant doorway! (amongst many other cool things). Unfortunately none of them came to life, but I guess we didn’t stay late enough for that.

After we’d had enough of wondering around the many rooms there (it was getting close to closing time)  we decided to mooch over to the south bank, one of the places we went on the first day we met each other (and also one of our favourite areas). We sat down and enjoyed the view and watching people milling around. Then we wondered over the the performers area to see what was on show. Some how we ended up in the Magners garden, a must see if you’re in the area. There’s loads of outdoor seating and bars as well as shows and, at the moment, a mini theme park! We didn’t go on any of the rides (lack of money being one reason) but had fun wandering around looking at everything going on, and sitting on some swing chairs in the sun.

All in all it was a really lovely day spending time together.

Today hasn’t been nearly as good…I had work and it seemed like everything that could go wrong went wrong.

First I managed to sleep through not one, not two, but THREE alarms! Then I messed up so many orders it wasn’t funny and my boss had to keep changing them for me. I thought it couldn’t get any worse but then I crouched down to put a tray of glasses on the floor and heard a loud ‘RRIIIIPPPP’

My trousers had split.

I quickly ran to the glass wash and refused to go out and serve customers. My boss was really nice and lent me a jumper so I could finish my shift and make it home without too much embarrassment. Such a life saver!

I was going to buy a new pair of trousers from somewhere like asda until my boyfriend reminded me of my sewing machine…

I guess I should get round to fixing them then.

In other news, I set myself goals to reach for the 13th. One being reach 50 likes on my facebook page, sadly i’m just 1 like away! Another, though, was to reach 15 followers on wordpress, a goal i’m glad to say i’ve achieved. So thank you everyone who has followed me so far! I will do my best to keep my posts interesting and regular. 🙂

I will have to create some new goals for next week and also get sewing again! I’ve had too much time off…

Till next time!

Time to Frolick

Last wednesday i went out for our ‘staff party’ and managed to lose my phone (really i think it was stolen) in central london. But luckily i was due a free upgrade and so went phone shopping with Ashley last saturday (as i didn’t have a clue what to get).  Whoever stole my iphone has now given me a nice free Galaxy SII. I was meant to have paid for the handset but the shop had made a mistake on the pricing and so gave me the upgrade for free making me a very happy penguin.

Ash and Jack at the Chinese

It was also a friends birthday and Ashley had organised a little get together for him that same day so we also went shopping for a present. We got him a big flying disk as he likes things like that and then managed to get sidetracked and spent money on ourselves. Ashley bought a remote controlled helicopter and I bought a little ‘ecosystem’ complete with shrimp! I don’t have a good picture of my shrimp yet though, they move too much.

Playing with new Toys

Then we met up with the birthday boy and took him (and another friend) to an all you can eat chinese for vegetarians, him being both a vegetarian and enjoying chinese food. He seemed very happy with our choice of restaurant 🙂

They ended up staying over in our flat, playing video games till the early hours of the morning and getting drunk whilst i slept in the bed next to them hoping to get up at 8 for work the next morning.

Playing with Sticks

At work we had a ‘kids’ day and I was in charge of painting childrens faces. It was pretty fun.

Ash and Jack met me from work and then we went to Trent country park. They played with their new toys and some sticks whilst I went in search for the elusive deer.

I didn’t find any deer.

Just about Settled.

So we still don’t have internet fter being messed around rather a lot. First they told us the wrong date, then they didn’t even show up, then they decided they didn’t need to as we already had a line installed, now they’ve realised there’s a ‘fault’ in our line. They should have fixed it before the 5th but I don’t know when tht means we’ll actually have internet. Hopefully it will be sometime soon, i’m feeling very cut off from the world.

Our window

In the meantime i’ve been sorting out the mounds of belongings we seem to have and have been working at my part time job in a weatherspoons (where i’m currently sat for the free wifi). I have a few projects in line for the sewing machine which I will hopefully get cracking on with soon. This hopefully means that there will be an explosion of new items to upload when I finally have my internet sorted.

The 'Kitchen'

I did go back to the north briefly to pick up the last of my things (such as my microwave) and met up with friends and family whilst there. I got there last saturday night and went for a meal with friends (one of whom was going back to uni in plymouth the next day) and then from there went to another friends house for a catch up over wine. They’d just moved in and done lots of decorating and really made it their own. I hadn’t seen either of them since uni and it was so nice just having a nice chat with them and finding out what they’re up to, it was like we’d never been apart.

Clothes area

The next day i went back home and had a big roast with my family. Why is it that mum’s cooking always tastes so much better? After the meal my cousin performed some magic tricks for us which were actually very impressive!

Celebratory chinese!

I promise the next update will be a little more exciting…Or at least i hope it will be.

Till then keep smiling!
