Myself and Ashley have been together 3 years today!….or tomorrow. You see we don’t really know when we got together as I agreed somewhere around midnight so we tend to celebrate over two days! However we’re not doing much today as we have very little money and so just spent a long relaxing morning and afternoon together and both have work tomorrow. I have bought him vouchers for a graffiti art lesson though, although we can’t book it for a few weeks as we’re too busy!
Still, it’s been really nice to spend some time snuggled up together thinking ‘how on earth have we put up with each other for 3 years!’. Of course we’ve had our ups and downs like every couple, but since we’ve both finally got new, well paid and enjoyable jobs things have been really good and we’re as loved up as ever!
To celebrate our anniversary i’ve decided to give away one of my Penguin cards to one lucky winner, so they can share their love with someone special.
I am actually giving away an extra large card, a size not available in my shop, featuring the adorable picasso and lots of fish (above)! This was my most popular card design over valentines and so is sure to be the perfect way to make someone feel a little special.
To enter to go over to my facebook and then like and share my competition image here.
You have the rest of today and tomorrow (the length of our anniversary) to enter!

The Penguins Are Here! For the whole month of May here at The Penguin Theory we are celebrating all things Penguin with our month long event : May there be penguins!
To kick it all off and to celebrate the first of May and the Mayday bank holiday I am giving away this gorgeous, handmade, flower crown to one lucky winner!
May day traditionally involves Morris Dancing, May poles and crowning one lady the Queen of May, so I am giving away one gorgeous ‘Queen of May’ flower crown to one lucky winner, but there’s a catch. You can’t enter for yourself. Instead I want you to nominate someone to be crowned ‘Queen of May’.
Comment in the comment section or on my facebook page with the name of your nominee and why you think they should be crowned the ‘Queen of May’!
This can be anyone, family or friends, boy or girl, for any reason. Maybe they helped you, maybe they’ve been through a lot and need some pampering, or maybe they’re just an extremely happy person who always brings a smile to your face!
You have until the end of the May Day bank holiday (Monday 5th May, 12pm gmt) to nominate your Queen and I will announce the winner on Tuesday 6th May.
Congrats to Jennie Evans! I have already sent an email and hope to post the bag to you soon. 🙂
And don’t forget there’ll be more competitions to come!
For now though I have some more screen printing to do (and some new designs to try) before going and practicing some long boarding with Ash.
We both have snazzy new helmets from Octane sports to keep us safe now so there’s no excuse! 🙂
I’ve been bad and haven’t quite gotten round to much sewing, but I do have another competition for you all!
Again it’s for a Penguin Theory Tote bag with your choice of lining (to be discussed with the lucky winner)
It’s easy to enter: Just tell me what your favourite penguin is! Simples!

Sorry for my brief absence, I know i’ve been very quietly recently.
I just haven’t had time for blogging in between work, sewing and trying to enjoy the odd bit of sunshine.
I have some very big ideas for May and so have been a busy bee trying to get it all sorted out. There is a lot of sewing, printing and advertising to be done and i’m running out of time to do it all! I’m definitely behind schedule and the nice weather is not helping! (I just want to be outside!)
But don’t worry, I may have another barbecue planned for tomorrow (the third this week) but I will definitely be ready.
So expect lots of competitions, freebies, new products, and some awesome penguin related fun!
or Peng-winner as I’ve decided to call it 😉
Thank you to everyone who entered this competition! I had so much fun running it and seeing all the great names you were coming up with!
And don’t forget to stay tuned for more exciting giveaways, competitions and, of course, some awesome handmade items!
May There be Penguins!
you only have 7 hours left to enter my giveaway for this fab tote bag!
the competition will close at midnight tonight so hurry! There’s already been lots of great entries!
Sorry for the brief absence, between long hours at work and being sociable I seem to have neglected my blog. I promise I made the most of my free time whilst I wasn’t updating though.
Last weekend I met my sister on the southbank and went to a chocolate festival! There were so many stalls selling all kinds of chocolates! Gifts, snacks, quirky little things, big delicious things, solid things, liquid things. You name it, they had it (in chocolate at least).
I bought an amazing Lion shaped chocolate I just don’t dare eat (i will have to take a photo for you all to see!) and we bought a bag of flavoured chocolate lollypops.
Emma and I then decided to retreat to the warmth of a pub and chat over a bottle of very tasty wine. Ash and my sisters boyfriend then met up with us for some lunch. Ash and Sam were men and had steaks, I had some delicious scampi. It was really nice, and the first time the four of us have done something together. The boys talked gaming and we all had a nice chat about TV shows we watched, soon though we had to leave. My sister had a party to go to and we’d invited some friends to a RollerDisco, the very same place Ash and I went on our first meeting.
The Rollerdisco was brilliant as usual although we left earlier than I wanted, probably for the best as I had work the next morning. Again we didn’t dress up and again I wished I had! There were some truly awesome outfits, lots of flares, bright colours, super heros. My favourites by far were the group dressed as retro games. My two absolute favourites being Twister and the Rubix Cube.
This girl had made a very pretty dress out of twister fabric. It was simple but it didn’t need anything else. She also wore a Twister board on her head, very creative although it looked a bit like she had just graduated!
This outfit was just so quirky and brilliant I couldn’t resist a sneaky shot! I wussed out at actually going up to the girl and getting a picture with her though, kinda wish I had now. She wore a Rubix Cube on her head and had a matching handbag. Her dress was a retro, colour block number and was pretty stylish as well is fitting in with her theme! I think I might have to steal this in future, i just loved it! She looked fab!
‘Till next time!
Decided to bite the bullet and sign up with Bloglovin. Finally I can follow all those blogs that aren’t on wordpress as well! 🙂
After months of promising a competition finally I have gotten round to it.
Up for grabs is this cute, summery tote bag, a great addition to any summer wardrobe! Perfect for adults and children alike. 🙂 Even The Penguin Theory’s Penguin wants it!
Myself and The Penguin Theory Mascot realised that he doesn’t have a name, this upset us both greatly. We racked our brains for a suitable name but just couldn’t decide on one so we want YOU to help!
So how can you help? It’s SIMPLE!
Just comment on this blog and/or this image on facebook with the name you think would be perfect for him and that’s it, done!
Of course don’t forget to follow and like so you know if you’ve won or not! 😉
Each person can enter twice (once on facebook and once on here) and I will put all the names into a hat (or most likely a bag) to be drawn in a weeks time.
The Penguin Theory
I’m going to be running a competition in the next week but am having trouble deciding on the prize to give away.
The choices are a funky Tie or a cute Tote Bag but I can’t decide which!
Maybe I should give the winner a choice of either one? (I will be making both eventually anyway)
Please help me decide which by either commenting on here or choosing an answer on this poll on my facebook!
And of course don’t forget to follow my facebook, twitter and blog for the actual competition 😉
‘Till next time!
Today I heard of an Etsy teams plight to help their fellow team member. It really does prove how much of a great community Etsy is and really restores a bit of faith in the human race.
Sandra, of Azulado, lost her husband to cancer a few days before Christmas. Now she is struggling to support her 5 year old son whilst making arrangements for her husbands funeral, not an easy task for anyone.
With all the extra costs for the illness and burial of her husband and finding it difficult to get support from her government she is understandably struggling to get herself back on her feet.
This is where her Etsy Team comes in. They have all banded together to organise a huge raffle full of amazing handmade gifts! With 50 chances of winning something beautiful, whilst supporting a family going through hard times, who could say no?
The raffle only costs $5 usd (that’s roughly £3.50) so not exactly breaking the bank, but can hopefully make a lot of difference to one family.
I think this plight has really touched me personally as it is very similar to own my mothers situation when she had me.
A month before I was born my dad died from a heart disease leaving my mum to bring up myself and my older sister on her own. Luckily our family supported her throughout and, in my opinion, myself and my sister have grown up very well (she really did do us proud). I couldn’t ever imagine going through what my mum went through, she is truly an inspiration to me and a fantastic woman.
So please help out another mother going through a difficult time.

Tomorrow is my Interview for the acting agency.
I’m starting to get pretty nervous.
I’m not quite sure what to expect and i’m desperately trying to think of things to wear and guess what kind of questions they may ask me. If anyone has any tips feel free to share them with me.
Fitter – Healthier
In other news, i’ve decided to start a healthier diet and start exercising again. I know i’ve put on at least a little bit of weight and definitely want to lose it again. My mums in on this as well as she’s decided she wants to lose weight. A couple of nights ago we ate the final packet of Party Sized Pringles that were left in the cupboard and vowed to be healthier and fitter.
So far so good. Been going to exercise classes and controlling my eating habits (mainly my uncontrollable snacking). Hopefully i’ll tone up just a little bit and get rid of the podge.
The Penguin way of Life
A friend told me how i’d inspired her to have a Penguin as her lifes mascot. I like this idea very much.
When I was younger I got a bit obsessive with entering lots of online competitions. And by lots I mean LOTS. Eventually I won a game called Penguin Pile Up where you had to balance penguins on a wobbly plastic iceberg. I still actually have this game stashed under my bed, and it has definitely been used quite a bit!
This lead to the theory that as long as you keep trying and don’t give up, one day you’re bound to win something. I mean you can only get back the amount of energy you put in right?
But any way, because of this I am now adopting a penguin as my mascot too. To remind me to keep trying even when it gets hard, as i’m sure it will with my chosen career path.
Will hopefully update soon the results of the interview.
Till next time!
